Following "The Secret" many individuals have a much clearer understanding of the Law of Attraction and how to consciously use this Universal Law to attract to them the things they desire. However, many individuals are more frustrated than ever because they are still not achieving their goals.

The problem with the movie "The Secret" is that, for some, it was too simplistic. Yet, even the most complex things are essentially simple in nature - that is their inherent beauty. And the truth "The Secret" contains everything you fundamentally need to know to successfully apply the Law of Attraction to achieve your goals and dreams.

Still, if you fall into the category where you're saying to yourself "The Law of Attraction just isn't working for me" then I have something that will help you to start manifesting the life you desire.

I've a special 86min 36s audio interview for you which you can download by clicking the link below:

Inspired by The Secret - Self-Healing from Chronic Pain Using the Law of Attraction

The movie "The Secret" is based on the Law of Attraction. Millions of people have seen this movie. Some love it; others hate it.

It was deliberately produced in a manner that would make its message accessible to the masses and this is the reason why it has been so successful. However, the movie's disguised simplicity is a key reason why many people do not "get" the essence of this movie or fully appreciate or understand the Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction works and is working all the time. The question is - "are you consciously using the Law of Attraction or are you just a hapless victim?"

Today I interviewed Jennifer Mannion author of "How I used the Law of Attraction to Heal Myself from Chronic Pain". Jennifer is definitely using the Law of Attraction in a conscious and very positive way.

You see for nearly eight years Jennifer experienced chronic pain and was diagnosed and misdiagnosed on numerous occasions.

She was in so much pain that at times she could barely walk. She went through a period when she was fainting almost weekly - sometimes in the shower.

She suffered insomnia because of the excruciating pain and because she wasn't getting sufficient sleep it impaired her body's ability to heal itself. It was a vicious cycle.

In her book she says that:

"I was so sad and so aware of my pain every step I took. I was 36 and imagined I felt as a 96 year old would feel on a bad day."

She endured scan after scan, blood test, after blood test. When the doctors finally figured out what was wrong the prognosis was not good - a lifetime of medication plus she might end up in a wheel chair. She was relieved to finally have a label to apply to what she had been experiencing and devastated at the same time.

She was told that basically she would never regain her health and counseled to hold a small funeral to formally bid goodbye to her old self. She was at the end of her rope.

Then something miraculous happened. A friend had suggested that Jennifer watch the movie "The Secret" and her husband bought the DVD for them to watch in Christmas 2006.

She was so exhausted from her illness that she couldn't even watch the movie the whole way through the first time. The second viewing was more successful and by the end of the movie Jennifer made a decision. She decided that:

"I WILL heal myself of pain."

And she did but what is so miraculous about Jennifer's recovery is that having been ill for nearly 10 years she was able to almost completely heal herself in a few short weeks.

Jennifer's story is truly inspirational and I highly recommend that you listen to Jennifer discuss her own eight-step process for self-healing.

In addition, if you know of a loved one, relative, friend or anyone who is suffering from a chronic illness please share this story with them. You could transform their life and, you never know, you could even save a life.

What Jennifer has achieved is extraordinary. Yet, with no disrespect to Jennifer, she is an ordinary woman. So, if Jennifer can use the Law of Attraction to heal her life, what could you use the Law of Attraction to achieve?

Have You Parked Your Life?

I travelled to Barbados today. Unfortunately, I encountered a few challenges on my way to Gatwick Airport and so was later than I had intended arriving there. When I went to drop off my luggage the airline rep admonished me by saying:

"Where were you? You almost missed the flight."

Fortuitously, the flight was delayed by an hour and so I ended up being early by default. I didn't actually respond to the airline rep. I wasn't being rude. It was just that her question made me think.

I knew I was running late. There were points along my journey where, once I had committed myself to a particular decision, certain things were out of my control. There was no point in my fretting or worrying about it. I just had to play the cards that I held in my hands. Instinctively, I knew that I would make it on time, as long as I kept my head, and for me that was the important factor.

Many people experience setbacks when they set out on a journey. Yet, generally, if they have a plane to catch they will do their utmost to reach the airport on time. After all, they have made an investment in their intended journey whether it be for business or pleasure, and so they are determined to make the journey. However, in life, when people experience setbacks they often abandon the very idea of their trip even although the destination is somewhere better than where they currently are.

I believe that the fact you are here on this Earth means that you made an investment. You bought a ticket to Earth but your arrival here is just the start of your journey. Earth can be likened to a huge portal through which billions of people pass through on their way to various destinations. Regrettably, only a relative few actual reach their intended objective.

While I was waiting for the boarding gate for my flight to be announced something else caught my attention. There were several flights that were being delayed because passengers were late in getting to their respective planes. For instance, there was a flight to Dubai where I heard at least half a dozen imploring 'last boarding calls' for a passenger for this particular flight. It reached the stage where it was announced that the passenger's bags had been identified and they were about to remove them from the aircraft.

So people even make it as far as the airport but still don't take those last few steps to make it onto the plane that will take them to their destination. And some people treat their life goals in just the same way. My heart went out to the announcer who poured as much urgency into her message as she could muster to no avail in this particular case. Similarly, once we announce our intention, the Universe beckons us, urging us forward. If we don't take the initiative to keep moving towards our goal of moving from a lower state to a higher state, the Universe will also oblige for we are always in a state of attraction. We are either consciously attracting what we desire or unconsciously attracting what we do not desire. The Universe does not judge.

So where are you? Are you striving towards your goals and dreams or have you parked somewhere?

"Most people go so far in life and then they park."
Maya Angelou

You can either choose to stay where you are, though not as you are for you are ether making progress in life or you are regressing or you can choose to get on that plane to your intended destination. The flight may be somewhat turbulent but the journey will be well worth it. The Universe awaits your command.

The Power of Using Scrapbooks and Vision Boards to Help Manifest Your Dreams

I rarely watch TV these days. I think that generally TV can be seriously detrimental to your mental well being so I'm particularly selective with what I watch. One of my favourite programs is Grand Designs presented by Kevin McCloud. It is basically a real estate program where McCloud charts the journey of those creating their ideal home.

Some of these people are cash rich; others just have big ideas without a substantial financial backing but nonetheless they have the resolve to see their grand design become a reality. In that regard, they are all wealthy.

One of the things I've noticed about those featured in this program (usually couples) is that one or the other usually has a scrapbook of things that want to be included in their ideal home. Often the scrapbooks have several years of cuttings. It is a delight to watch many of those cutting becomes treasured three-dimensional objects in the new homes, appearing as if they have always been there.

What is clear is that these individuals visualised their dream homes and not just the outer shell. They imagined with great detail how their ideal home would be inside and out. Then they focused on these images, transforming them from concept to reality.

The scrapbooks worked in the same way as a vision board where you collate images that are representative of your dreams and goals. It doesn't have to be about one theme. In fact, it is best if the scrapbook or vision board is a balanced representation of all the key areas of your life - home, finance, relationships, health, personal development, spirituality, career, etc. A word of caution - be meticulous with the images you select or else you could end up manifesting or attracting things into your life that you don't want.

Scrapbooks and vision boards are very effective because they give your subconscious mind something "concrete" to work with. You wouldn't approach an architect and say build me a house. You would describe to the architect the type of house you wanted. You might show your architect pictures of the type of houses that you are attracted to. You would tell him the type of features you want to be included and then you would work together to refine the design until it was congruent with the concept in your mind. Only then will the architect be in a position to produce the detailed plans so that the various individuals who will, in essence, be attracted to your project can accurately execute their part in breathing life into your master plan.

Scrapbooks or vision boards are fun to create and are most effective when you refer to them on a regular basis. However, even if you create one and forget to consciously look at it for months or even years on end you'll be surprised at what you manifest in your life.

Sometime ago I was looking through one of my scrapbooks and there was a picture in it of the living room of an apartment that made me do a double-take. The picture was almost an exact replica of an apartment I had bought and decorated. I did not intentionally copy the style of this apartment. It just happened. In addition, I noticed another picture was very similar to the layout of my own home.

The act of creating a vision board helps to imprint the images of what you want on your sub-conscious mind and, in this way, helps your sub-conscious mind to work on manifesting what you want.

Allow yourself to get emotionally involved with the images in your scrapbooks or vision boards. This process helps you to manifest your goals more quickly. It's what you want, isn't it? Plus it feels great when you imagine you are living your dream.

Add a few sentences of text that describe your relationship to and interaction with the images you have selected. This also helps you to get emotionally involved in these symbols of your goals and dreams.

For instance, one of the images in my scrapbook is that of footprints in the sand with gentle waves rolling into shore. The sea is an amazing series of shades of blue. Next to it I've written "My footprints in the sand as I take one of my daily, meandering strolls." Now, I live in London - no beaches I'm afraid but I spent the summer in Barbados and one of the things I did almost every day was to take a stroll along the beach.

You don't have to restrict yourself to creating a scrapbook or vision board. The more references your sub-conscious mind has to work with the better. Plus having different versions of these tools will mean that you can have a visual reminder of your goals wherever you are and whatever you are doing. I keep images inside cupboards, inside the lids of storage boxes, in drawers, on doors even in my purse. You can even create digital vision boards for your computer and or iPod.

Success Coach, Jack Canfield once placed a $100,000 dollar bill over his bed when he set himself a goal of earning that amount of money in a year. Of course it wasn't a real one hundred thousand dollar bill but to his sub-conscious mind it represented one hundred thousand dollars and that was enough. Canfield would see that note first thing in the morning and visualise himself living the lifestyle of someone who earned that amount of money. What great way to start the day! Now bear in mind that, at the time, Canfield was a teacher earning just $8,000. That year he earned $92,327. Do you think he was complaining? His wife asked him if the strategy would work for one million dollars. What do you think?

Scrap books and visualisation are powerful ways to help focus your sub-conscious mind on the things you desire in life. Through giving your sub-conscious mind a tangible reference to focus on it speeds up the process of attraction and manifestation in your life.

Click the banner below for details for a program for creating a digital vision board. It is a highly versatile program and one that you even customise so check it out. Create your scrap books and vision boards and have fun while you manifest your goals and dreams.

Using the Law of Attraction to Manifest Your Ideal Life: Step 5 – Let Go. Act on Your Intuition and Allow the Results to Manifest

5. Let go. Act on your intuition and allow the results to manifest

Applying the Law of Attraction is simple but not necessarily easy. Here's the contradiction to all this. You've gotta want what you want real bad. So bad you can almost taste it. So bad that you most certainly feel what it would be like to already possess that which you desire and, at the same time, you need to detach yourself from the outcome. Huh?

"The greatest and fastest way to get something is to not need it."

What's more you are not to concern yourself with how exactly you are going to achieve your goal. Too many people settle for what they think they can get rather than what they want – it all goes back to those limiting or negative beliefs. When you do this you often fall short of even your lowest expectations.

"The minute you settle for less than you deserve, you get even less than you settled for."
Maureen Dowd, New York Times Columnist

You simply have to let go and let God. As Pearl Buck expresses it "All things are possible until they are proved impossible - and even the impossible may only be so, as of now."

The 'eye' of the Universe is all-seeing. The consciousness of the Universe is capable of figuring out the most complex of combinations and permutations to attract to you the things you want.

Of course there's a catch to all this. When the Universe speaks to you be ready to act without hesitation. You have to be sensitive to those moments of intuition. Act on those gut feelings and trust in the outcome even if, on the surface, it does not appear favourable.

When you are over-attached to a particular outcome two things happen:

1. You cut off the possibility of a result more magnificent than you could imagine, and
2. You allow FEAR to creep in.

If you're fearful then you are no longer trusting and you will attract what you fear rather than what you want.

So there you have it - five steps to manifesting what you want in life through the power of the Law of Attraction. Have fun manifesting your ideal life.

Using the Law of Attraction to Manifest Your Ideal Life: Step 4 - Feel What it Would Be Like to Have, Do or Be What You Want

We're at the penultimate step of applying the Law of Attraction to manifest your ideal life. Everything is first created in the mind. This is the first phase of manifestation. There is a saying that if you can conceive it in your mind then you can hold it in your hand.

Our thoughts lead to our feelings or emotions which in turn cause us to act or behave in a certain way producing our results. Often, when we think about what we want there is apathy, apprehension and fear associated with those thoughts. These negative emotions actually push what we want away from us. True, some of your goals will make you feel uncomfortable but we have got to get the balance right. Bob Proctor says that a goal should scare you a little but excite you a lot otherwise the goal isn't worthy of you.

That discomfort indicates that in order to achieve this goal you have to grow and that's what goals are all about. Success Coach, Jack Canfield expresses this concept very eloquently:

"Anytime a goal makes you feel uncomfortable you know there's a stretch in there. Does that doesn't mean you have to stretch yourself every single moment of the day? Of course not. There's a rhythm of contact and withdrawal in terms of stretching yourself and then recovering and resting."

If we don't feel excited about our goal we will never have the energy and commitment needed to see it through. Our goal will end up like a half-baked cake - no good to anyone. The key to becoming excited about your goal is to imagine yourself already in possession of achieving that goal. Imagine what you would see, hear, feel, even taste when you have accomplished your goal. Savour those feelings; expand them in your mind and repeat this process over and over again, several times a day until you achieve your goal. Feed off this excitement and let it fuel your desire. The achievement of some of your goals will not be easy and you will need plenty of energy to see them through to fruition.

"The key that unlocks energy is desire. It's also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited."
Earl Nightingale

Have you ever noticed how quickly you can attract the things you don't want? It's because we attach a great deal of emotion and feelings to these things. We have no trouble in expanding those feelings, talking about them, imagining the worse case scenario and then wallowing in it. And the Universe responds. It always does. You will get what you don't want delivered to you via express mail.

So you have a choice. Going back to Step - know what you don't want and there may be tangible measures that you have to put in place to prevent what you don't want happening. After that, focus all your energy on what you do want. Feels much better, doesn't it?

Using the Law of Attraction to Manifest Your Ideal Life: Step 3 – Clear All Negative or Limiting Beliefs

3. Clear all negative or limiting beliefs

This is vital because it is your limiting beliefs that control the results in your life. The challenge is to identify your limiting beliefs because many people are not even aware that they exist, far less be in a position to give name to them.

Some people's negative beliefs are as follows:

~I don't deserve to be rich
~I get sick easily
~I always seem to attract the wrong men
~I'm not good enough…
~I'm not clever enough…
~Money is hard to come by
~I'm not good at selling

Do any of these statements resonate with you? Have you noticed anything about these statements? They represent typical thoughts. In other words, our negative or limiting beliefs are connected to our thoughts. So one way to identify what your negative or limiting beliefs are is to tune into your thoughts and your talk. Yes, listening to your unspoken and spoken words will give you vital clues as to why you are creating your current reality.

"Your words (spoken and unspoken) create your reality."

If where you are is where you want to be – fine. However, if you are not getting the results you desire then you need to alter your self-image because your self-image is your controlling force and you will never grow beyond the limits of your self-image. Do you have a winner's image or a loser's image? Fortunately, any limits which do exist are generally self-imposed.

"An individual's self-concept is the core of his personality. It affects every aspect of human behaviour: the ability to learn, the capacity to grow and change. A strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success in life."
Dr Joyce Brothers

For instance, I was once at a seminar and one of the participants asked a question. She identified herself as a NLP practitioner and then went on to say that because she was caned as a child she had a learning disability. So her belief is that her learning disability was caused by the fact she was caned. Now, there is nothing she can do about the latter. It happened. And so as long as she holds onto this negative belief she will always have a learning disability. Can you see how powerful your words are? Claiming responsibility for her learning disability is a vital first step if this woman wants to overcome this challenge.

The thing is that unless you train yourself to listen to your language you will miss these vital clues that are literally sabotaging your life. This is just one way where a coach is very helpful. We are equipped with a variety of tools and strategies to help you overcome your limiting beliefs. We are also trained to listen to what you say with the utmost attention so that we can pick up on these saboteurs and help you to create an internal and external dialogue that will enrich rather than impoverish your life.

Another way to identify your limiting beliefs is to take an example of something you desire. Perhaps you have wanted to buy a new house or take a special trip and you haven't done so as yet. Examine your feelings when you think about these goals. "I want to buy a new house but…" Whatever comes up after the 'but' is your negative belief about this particular goal.

Your current circumstances have no bearing on what you can ultimately achieve. Many of the big achievers in life started out with nothing. You can successfully apply the Law of Attraction to manifest what you want in life. Just as you created your current reality you can create a new reality, one that is in harmony with your inner-self – your true spirit.

"Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs."
Dr Maxwell Maltz

Next time: "Feel what it would be like to have, do or be what you want".

Five Steps to Using the Law of Attraction to Manifest Your Ideal Life

The Law of Attraction is continually at work whether you are aware of it or not. Everything in the Universe is made of energy. Everything vibrates and therefore emits energy and so you draw into your life everything that you are in resonance with.

You have literally attracted everything in your life good and bad, positive and negative. However, we are not hapless victims of this powerful universal force that is unless we choose to be, for we have choice and it is our choices in life that will either enrich us or impoverish us. We can actively choose to use the Law of Attraction to create our ideal life.

"Your only purpose in life is to make choices. Once the choice is made, the whole universe moves to bring into fruition that which you chose."

The movie, The Secret, has been a phenomenal success in helping hundreds of thousands of individuals to decode the Law of Attraction and apply it successfully to their lives. There are several guidelines on how to use the Law of Attraction to manifest the things you desire in life - great health, loving relationships, abundant wealth, etc. The strategies of different teachers/philosophers, etc. may vary slightly but in essence they are virtually the same. One way of putting it in a nutshell is to say that what you focus on grows or as Oprah says:

"You become what you think about."

However, for many this is over-simplistic because, in reality, it takes a lot more than just thinking about what you want.

I personally like Joe Vitale's five-step process to using the Law of Attraction to manifest what you want:

1. Know what you don't want.
2. Select what you do want.
3. Clear all negative or limiting beliefs.
4. Feel what it would be like to have, do or be what you want.
5. Let go. Act on your intuition and allow the results to manifest.

Now let's unpack this because there is actually more than meets the eye here. To miss or foul up any one of these steps will result in your not getting what you want but that which you have been unconsciously thinking about. The two are not necessarily the same.

1. Know what you don't want.

Fortunately, the first step is usually easy. In fact, the key to discovering what many people don't want is often to ask them what they do want! People are often very clear about this. The problem is that these thoughts dominate their thinking and then they wonder why their life isn't turning out the way they want it to.

"Because you counter the majority of your thoughts with opposingthoughts, you believe that you are not powerful. When you no longer split your flow of energy with contradictorythoughts, you will know your power."
Abraham-Hicks

So while it is important to be clear on what you don't want, once you've done this simply put those thoughts aside. This is all about clarity and so the next step is to get clear on what you do want.

2. Select what you do want

This is where may people become a cropper. They are vague and wishy-washy about what they want and, to make matters worse, they deviate. They want this and then that and maybe this again. Imagine being in a restaurant and ordering the fish dish, then after the chef has started to prepare your meal you change your mind and ask for the chicken dish instead. Then you decide that perhaps a vegetarian option would be healthier and then you change your mind yet again and request the fish dish. The chef would probably slam his pans down in disgust and storm out of the kitchen – you'd be lucky to get anything at all.

In the Universe we have a magical chef at our disposal and our job is to be as precise as possible in defining what we want with one exception which I'll mention in a moment. We want the steak - well done with caramelised onions, scalloped potatoes and accompanied by a fresh, crisp green salad with no dressing. Or we want better. Now, this doesn't equate to being indecisive it opens up new and more marvellous possibilities. Yes, after you have crystallised in your mind what you want leave yourself open to receiving something even better than you could conjure up yourself.

Next time – "Clear all negative or limiting beliefs".

Law of Attraction - The Secret is Out!

The Secret is out. The movie, "The Secret", has been awakening consciousness around the world. It explains how the Law of Attraction works in our lives to manifest what we perceive as our reality.

However, while there are many people who believe in the Law of Attraction there is a growing wave of scepticism. Personally, I believe in the Law of Attraction. Like others, I have used it unconsciously to create what I want, however, what is infinitely more exciting is that the greater my understanding of the Law of Attraction the better I am able to create the life I desire.

Some of the teachers featured in The Secret were recently interviewed by Oprah. If you missed these interviews then you can check them out at the links below.

Click HERE to watch the interview on Thursday, 8th February interview with Rhonda Byrne, Jack Canfield, Lisa Nichols, Rev. Michael Beckwith and James A Ray.

Click HERE to watch the interview on Friday, 16th February 16th interview with Rev. Michael Beckwith and James A. Ray.

Plus
check out the 8th February after-show on Oxygen.

I can understand why some people would be sceptical. After all, if we do "attract" our lives it would mean that we have to take 100% responsibility for our lives - a curse or a blessing; a forfeit or a gift?

Using the Power of Intention and the Law of Attraction to Get What You Want in Life

"The work of your life is to discover your purpose and get on with the business of living it out."
Oprah Winfrey

All too often in life we're trying to figure out how to get what we want when we haven't clearly identified who we are let alone what we truly want. It is not our responsibility to figure out the mechanisms of getting what we want. It is our duty simply to intend what we want.

When you set your intention and hold steadfast to it the Universe shifts to begin the process of manifesting that which you desire. The key is to think consistently about what you want.

"Prayer is what you do between praying."

One of my clients was wrestling with having the faith that she can change her life and live the lifestyle she truly desires. We were discussing the power of intention and the Law of Attraction and I suggested that she should set her intention on something small and relatively easy to achieve and work her way up to bigger and more challenging goals. The rationale behind this was that with every success her belief in the power of intention and the Law of Attraction would increase.

Towards the end of our session she mentioned that she had been trying, unsuccessfully to contact the organisers of a seminar that she had a ticket for. I asked what she wanted and she said she wanted to know if she could take a guest along because she wished her daughter to attend.

It so happened that I had a spare ticket which I wanted to pass onto someone who would make good use of it. I offered her the ticket and then laughed out loud. "Did you see what just happened?" I asked.

It was a perfect example of the Law of Attraction at work.

Imagine you are in restaurant. Your table is simply set and while you have been provided with bread and water there is no menu. While people come and go the restaurant remains full and you notice that some people are enjoying sumptuous meals with course after course. Others are eating well but more modestly. In fact, there seems to be a full spectrum starting with those with barely enough food and drink to get by and following through to those who appear to have an abundance.

At first you feel resentment and possible envy at those who seem to have so much. Then those feelings fade and you start to focus on what you would like to eat. You are grateful for the bread but you think how nice it would be to have some hot soup to go with it. You close your eyes. You can see the colour of the soup with gentle wafts of steam coming from the bowl, feel the smooth fluid flowing down your throat, you can almost smell its rich aroma. Wait a minute! You can smell hot soup! You open your eyes as a waiter places a bowl of soup in front of you. As he retreats you hear the words, though they are not actually spoken,

"Ask and you will receive."

Your mouth is watering now and so you tuck into the soup, savouring every mouthful. All too soon the soup is finished but your appetite has not been fully appeased. If anything the soup only served to whet your appetite. Without being fully conscious of what you are doing you start to create a full meal in your mind. You are so hungry that you allow your imagination to get carried away and you visualise the meal with great detail. Meanwhile you feast your eyes with the rich meals that you see around you but rather than feel envy you use the rich sights to enhance your own visualisation.

Some time elapses when suddenly the waiter appears before you again. He places a dish in front of you and then proceeds to add several other items. It's the meal that you were visualising except for one dish which you are not sure about. Then it hits you. There was one part of your meal that you had difficulty focusing on. Consequently, you lacked clarity on this particular dish.

You beam gratefully at the waiter and then the impact of the words you heard before hits you,

"Ask and you will receive."

The waiter gives an almost imperceptible nod and vanishes as quickly and silently as before.

"Thank you!"

You utter the words silently and gratitude resonates in every fibre of your being. You understand now how to get what you want.
You whip out your napkin and are about to tuck in when you feel a pair of eyes staring intently not so much at you, but at the delicious meal spread before you. You stand up and extend your arms beckoning,

"I have an abundance of food and drink. Come share this meal with me."

Where People Fail When It Comes to the Law of Attraction

The movie The Secret has been creating ripples across the world. It features some of the world's greatest teachers, philosophers, entrepreneurs, scientists, doctors, authors and financial advisors and presents the concept of the Law of Attraction in a manner that anyone and everyone can understand.

The trouble with The Secret, or rather I should say with people's comprehension of The Secret and the Law of Attraction, is that many people only half get it.

They think to themselves, "Oh! If I just wish for something then I'll receive it." If only life were that simple. Also, you know they just might get away with it if they decided what they wanted and held that image steadfastly in their mind.

However, they may say they want something but continually look at their current circumstances which do not support what they want. They worry about how they will actually achieve what they want. They doubt themselves and the Universe repeatedly and then, as time passes by, they become even more jaded in their thoughts and their thoughts become increasingly negative and self-defeating.

Genevieve Behrend in her book Your Invisible Power wrote,

"When your understanding grasps the power to visualise your heart's desires and holds it with your will, it attracts to you all things requisite to the fulfilment of that picture by the harmonious vibration of the Law of Attraction."

Thoughts become things. So the thoughts we have become manifest whether they are positive or negative. The Universe always delivers.

I like to explain this concept to my clients using a jigsaw puzzle. It's something I've stolen from Robert Allen though I've expanded it. Imagine you are given a jigsaw puzzle to put together. It could be a relatively simple puzzle with just a few hundred pieces or it could have thousands of pieces. The problem is you haven't been given an image of what the finished puzzle will look like. Could you complete the puzzle?

Take a second scenario where you have been given an image but it is incomplete or the image is faded and difficult to make out. How easy would it be to for you to complete the puzzle?

Take a third scenario where you are given an image for the puzzle but the image keeps changing. You look at it and one minute it represents this, then that. How easy would it be for you to complete the puzzle?

Obviously, the best conditions to complete the puzzle are where you have a clear, sharp, well-defined image. Unfortunately, it is the former scenarios that we often present to the Universe – no image, broken image or continually changing image and then we wonder why things don't turn out the way we say we want them to.

The key then is to create an image with as much clarity and detail as possible and hold onto to that image but this is not enough.

Recall the second part of quote I mentioned by Genevieve Behrend, or as she expresses another way,

"The conscious use of this great power [visualisation] attracts to you multiplied resources, intensifies your wisdom, and enables you to make use of advantages which you formerly failed to recognise."

Some people think that visualisation alone will do the trick and get them the things they desire. No. It's like arranging a date with someone, agreeing to meet them at a particular rendezvous and then you stay at home.

The Universe will move towards you. You must respond by moving towards the Universe and taking advantage of the opportunities that the Universe brings to you in order to achieve that which you desire. Darn! Yes, you have to do some work.

I love this quote by Winston Churchill:

"During their lifetimes, every man and woman will stumble across a great opportunity. Sadly, most of them will simply pick themselves up, dust themselves down and carry on as if nothing ever happened."

And that is exactly what happens. The Universe will make available numerous opportunities to help us achieve our goals yet we often fail to recognise them or take full advantage of them. There's a saying "Don't wait for your ship to come in, swim out to it." Having goals is important but more important it is what we become as we achieve a particular goal.

Of course there will be obstacles. That's the whole point of this game called life. Would you play any board game or computer game if there were no obstacles or rules to make the game more challenging? Of course not, that would be so boring. Why then do we expect the biggest and best game of all to be any different?

So dream, dream big and hold on fast to your dream. Embrace every challenge that comes your way; brush the fear of failure aside and embrace the expectancy of success. You might not get what you want; you just might get something even better. As Joan Curcio puts it:

"Jump into the middle of things, get your hands dirty, fall flat on your face, and then reach for the stars."

Life Mastery: NOWHERE or NOW HERE - The Present is Perfect

Listen to "Life Mastery: NOWHERE or NOW HERE - The Present is Perfect" by pressing play on the audio player below:

In my last article I wrote about pursuing excellence instead of perfectionism and here I am telling you that the present is perfect. Don't worry, I'm not changing my tune but I do like to stir things up a bit.

Sometimes you hear people say,

"I feel like I’m going nowhere."

Then I heard Frank Gasiorowski (90DayGoals.com) comment that the word "nowhere" actually consists of two words "now" and "here". It gave me a new perspective on the issue of "going nowhere".

When a person says that they are going nowhere it is really an admission that they don’t recognise that the present is perfect.

All we ever have is NOW and until we can accept that the present is indeed perfect with all its glorious imperfections it will always feel like we are "going nowhere". Life will always feel like a struggle.

In reality, at any given moment in time, the truth is we are "now here".

Please don't take this as just a play on words. This is such a fundamental concept. If more people got it then more people would be happier and more likely to achieve what they want in life.

When we think we are going nowhere we are, in effect, resisting our present circumstances and what we resist persists. See where I'm going with this?

So by identifying what keeps showing up in our lives, i.e. what persists, we can clearly identify what we are resisting. With that new awareness we are empowered to make changes to our lives that give us what we want.

According to the Law of Attraction we attract what we think about so, now, instead of putting energy into what we don't want we can focus instead on what we do want. This can be challenging if your present circumstances bear little or no resemblance to the life you desire. However, you must be able to see it clearly in your mind before you can hold it in your hands. Everything is created twice - first on the spiritual plane and then on the physical plane.

Once you have identified what it is that you want, work backwards from your goal. You will then see the steps that need to be taken in order for you to progress from where you are to where to want to be. When you keep your eye on your goal rather than on your present circumstances the challenges and obstacles that come your way will not seem so insurmountable.

"Obstacles are what we see when we take our eye off the goal."

When we can appreciate life with all its trials and tribulations we realise that instead of going nowhere we are indeed on a magnificent journey which we have the power to design – like one of those package holidays where you select the specific elements that appeal to you and the type of holiday you want to enjoy.

How we shape our lives is totally dependent on what we do with our lives every moment of the day right now, right here.

"Each moment in time we have it all, even when we think we don't."
Melody Beatie
