A New Year's Message - Rejoice, Reflect, Renew

"Rejoice, Reflect, Renew" was the theme of this year's White House Christmas and is an apt theme upon which to focus on as we approach the New Year.

Rejoice
Rejoicing is all about expressing your gratitude. Above all, you can be grateful that you are still here for no matter what the past year has held for you, 2010 presents another opportunity for you to create a better life for yourself and for others. And this holds true whether you had what can be described as a fabulous year or not because there is no standing still.

Even if you love the way your life is right now, if you don't continue to work at it, things will decline. Also, as good as things are, you can expect some hiccups along the way - that's just the way life is. And so you can't rest on your laurels if you want to ensure that any obstacles that come your way remain minor hiccups.

So rejoice if 2009 was all that you wished it could be and rejoice even if it felt like the year from hell because you get to make a fresh start in the New Year. Or as one of my mentors, Stephen Pierce said:

"Start again in 2010."

Let's face it, if you're still here it means that your work is not yet over. And if, 2009 really wasn't your best year then perhaps this was the Universe's way of challenging you so that you can grow and achieve even greater things in the New Year.

Reflect
As we bid farewell to not 2009 prepare to embrace a new decade one cannot help but reflect upon how the year has been. In fact, many people have been reviewing the past decade of their lives. It's incredible how fast the years have gone by. It seems as though it were only yesterday that we we ushering in a new millennium.

But you shouldn't dwell on the things that didn't quite go according to plan other than to learn the lessons from those experiences. Reflect on your successes as well no matter how major or how minor. When you recall your successes try to remember as much detail about the event as possible. And when you do really get in touch with your feelings and go a step further and amplify those feelings.

These positive emotions will give you fuel over the coming weeks and months. Create your own MBA or Mental Bank Account as as dubbed by Robert G Allen. And each time you recall these feelings aim to make them even stronger.

Renew
It's so vital that we find ways in which to renew our spirit because if you want to make 2010 more fulfilling, more rewarding and more exciting than 2009, you're going to have to have a lot of energy and mental clarity. In other, words you can't allow past mistakes to get you down and stop you from doing the things you need to do to achieve your desired goals.

Many people take time at the beginning of the year to detox. Now whether, you believe in the benefits of detoxifying or not is another matter but many people eat in excess over the holiday period and so it certainly can't hurt to give your digestive system a mini-break. It also takes discipline to follow a detoxification program and discipline is a muscle you need to exericse on a regular basis when it comes to achieving your goals.

As well as giving your body a new diet you may also want to consider giving your mind a new diet as well. Identify new books, audio programs and videos that will nurture your mind and help you to renew your spirit.

And the theme "Rejoice, Reflect, Renew" doesn't need to be reserved for just a big occasion like the New Year. This is a theme that you can use every day.

So throughout 2010 consider asking yourself these three simple questions at the end of each day:

1. What do I have to feel joyful about today?
2. What actions did I take today that will move me closer to achieving my goals?
3. What have I done today to renew my mind, body and spirit?

The quality and depth of your answers to these questions will determine how your New Year will eventually pan out.

I hope that 2010 is all that you could wish it to be and more.

Happy New Year!

The Gift of Your Life Problems

Many people are currently going through some very tough life problems and some may not even know which way to turn or what to do to extricate themselves from their current circumstances.

At times like these it's so easy to forget that we are never given a burden greater than we can carry.

This means that even though the problems you may be facing may seem insurmountable - that's just an illusion. The trouble is that we tend to deal on our troubles instead of focusing on what life would be like if we were free of our present difficulties.

Now that takes quite some effort but as Les Brown said:

"It's important to remember that what you are going through has not come to stay it has come to pass."

Remember that whatever you focus on will produce more of the same. Therefore, no matter how bad things are focus on what you want. And when you do this not only will you feel better while experiencing your present circumstances, you'll see more clearly what it is you have to do in order to overcome your present circumstances and what's more you'll feel energised to take the actions needed to achieve the positive results you desire.

But there's another important factor you should take into account even before you consider the actions that you need to take to overcome your life problems.

You see, life is like a roller coaster. It's full of twists and turns and up and downs. So you're either heading out of a problem or heading into one. Somehow you have to learn how to see each problem you receive as a gift and that the appearance of bigger problems is not a sign of failure but a sign that you are making progress.

Anthony Robbins said:

"Have the faith to believe that whatever shows up in your life is a gift."

Yet, when we experience life problems we put up resistance. We think that life is unfair. We wonder why we are always confronted with problems but none of this actually helps to make the problems go away.

And we face another challenge. Although, we're never given a burden greater than we can bear, our present level of thinking led us to the problems we currently face. So to overcome any problem we face we have to raise our level of thinking. Now that may seem like a contradiction but problems are life's way of showing us that it's time to ascend to a new level of consciousness.

And with each problem we face we have the opportunity to step up or step down, to ascend or descend. What is very clear is that we do not remain the same.

So within each and every problem we face lies a great opportunity. Our challenge is therefore to see past or see through the problem to recognise the opportunity or gift that lies within.

And part of that gift is a NEW YOU.

You have to be able to identify who you have to become in order to do the things you need to do to successfully overcome the life problems you face. And the sooner you're able to do this the sooner you can get to work on grasping that opportunity or unwrapping that gift.

Why Women Settle, and Give Up On Their Dream And What Can Be Done to Reverse It

Guest Post by Allison Maslan, HHP, CCH

When women come to see me for life and career coaching, I often find myself saying, "You really do deserve to be happy." With this statement I often receive a perplexed expression as their reply. Such a simple and somewhat obvious statement, but surprisingly for many women, it rings distant from their reality.

Their confused stare translates to, "Really? But how can this be? How could that actually happen? True happiness seems so far from my life that I honestly have no idea how to get there."

I don't mean that all women are walking around miserable. Far from that. However, deserving to be happy can have many connotations. It can mean the opportunity to have all they desire in life, to reach their dreams or to be completely fulfilled and content right where they are.

Many women tell me they remember having dreams and longings at some point in their lives, but over time, have lost touch with these aspirations. At this junction, these desires seem more like fantasies. Many women have expressed to me that they feel so trapped within their circumstances that happiness has meant settling, or making the best of what they really do not want.

Why is this so? And how did this happen? Is it a message we have unconsciously inherited from our mothers that says, "This is the best you'll get or the best you can do, so deal with it." Is it ideology from Cinderella and Superwoman gone astray? Or has it been the many disappointments in love, a dead-end quest for a dream career or never making it past surviving on a month-to-month income while juggling the responsibilities of home, work and family? Or maybe one has a great job, but it leaves no time for anything but the job? And the push for all of this has left many women feeling overwhelmed, lost and just plain tired.

Somewhere in the search, without their awareness, complacency has snuck in and taken hold. One day, they find themselves whispering under their breath that it is easier to accept what is in front of them, rather than continue the seemingly arduous journey toward the dream. Many have found a way to manage within the boundaries of this acceptance and even find a sense of safety and security in its clutches.

This is the definition of settling, and many of us have taken this road at one time or another. We settle in unhealthy relationships with partners that we know are not our true match. We settle in the work that we are either over qualified for, or we allow fear to hold us back from having the gratifying dream career we always wanted.

That would all be fine, I suppose. Except these same women tell me that there is this deep inkling inside, nothing they can really get a handle on, but a feeling that there has got to be more than this. It is also this inkling that has kept them feeling frustrated along with intermittent moments of yearning for fulfillment after periods of giving up on it altogether.

The main culprits in what I call the Settling Syndrome, is "fear" in one form or another. You may relate to some of these scenarios:

~ Fear that this is the best that there is, so I better hang onto what I have.
~ Fear that I may fail, so why should I try.
~ Fear that I cannot do it perfectly, so therefore I am not capable.
~ Fear of what others may think of me for leaving my safe and secure circumstance for a silly risk or pipe dream.

The unwillingness to face any of these fears is often what keeps women in situations that do not move them to their potential. This leaves them feeling bored, resentful, and stuck rather than experiencing a sense of satisfaction, accomplishment and full heartedness.

The reality is that the fear will lessen tremendously after one begins to make the necessary changes to remove themselves from their current unfulfilling circumstance. The steps it takes to initiate the new direction are the hardest. They may require that you dig deep for some courage. However, once you initiate the steps toward your new path, the fear will begin to diminish and you will wonder what you were so afraid of after all. It is by taking action that this fear will begin to subside.

Your trepidation will not diminish by choosing to stay stuck, while trying to think your way out of it. The combination of courageous thought and forward action are the most powerful duo that can open the doors to all kinds of wonderful new possibilities.

You don't have to jump off a bridge and make major changes in your life all at once. That would be too daunting to most. I suggest taking baby steps, which I call Mini-Feats™, and instead, build a bridge to your new life. Just three small action steps each day at least ten minutes in duration, and before you know it, you will have accomplished miles of positive movement. This is how I wrote my book, Blast Off, while being a mom and running a full-time coaching practice. I committed to only one page per day and at the end of one year, my manuscript was completed without much interference in the rest of my life.

The other culprit in the Settling Syndrome is the absence of direction toward a new path.

It is hard to know what better path to take next when you do not know what your options are. Or you may know the options, but have no idea how to get there. You may even feel that you have knocked on every door possible and have not found a good fit, or one that would even open. Then, of course, that familiar frustration and self-doubt start to creep in and, once again, you quit.

Unless you have had positive guidance from a family member, a coach, mentor, teacher or friend that can show you possibilities outside of your own personal experience, how would you know that there are wonderful possibilities within reach? If you have only been influenced by people that have had unhealthy or mediocre relationships, or are unsatisfied with their careers, what would be the inspiration for you to move beyond settling? How would you even know what direction to take or how to even get started? This has nothing to do with intelligence or capability. It is what all of us needed as children; and at times in adulthood. Someone to help show us the way.

To have a direction means that you know where you are headed. If you have not had someone to help guide you in some way, it may be hard to see that there are many possibilities for uplifting your life situation. You may have always thought, "Happy, prosperous and stimulating lives are for other people, not me." I am here to tell you, this is not the truth.

If this scenario has been your state of affairs, I suggest you reach out to a mentor, or support system that is not emotionally involved in your situation. One that has experience and can be an impartial coach to open some windows to new options, and then help steer you in the right direction in any aspect of your life. By realizing there are options, you will begin to feel hopeful. And hope will give you a sense of freedom. And ahhhhhhhh…….freedom feels so good.

And remember, don’t ever settle or give up on yourself in any area of your life, because you do deserve to be happy.

How to Increase Your Online Visibility - FREE Teleseminar

I've been laying low for a while as I've just had a number of different issues to deal with so it's ironic that this post is about a FREE teleseminar on how to increase your visibility. However, this is an issue that no one in business should ignore.

Many have dubbed this as "The Information Age" but as Tony Robbins points out:

"People are drowning in information but starving for wisdom."
Tony Robbins

Instead, this business expert describes this as "The Attention Age". But just how do you attract the attention of those you wish to influence and make your voice stand out in a very 'noisy' marketplace?

A critical part of the solution is increasing your online visibility and this is true whether your business is primarily online or offline. It has been proven that even offline businesses can significantly benefit from having a strong online presence.

Therefore this FREE Teleseminar presented by Kathleen Gage on how to increase your online visibility is very timely and one you should attend if you want to grow your business in the New Year as there is a direct correlation between your level of visibility and the amount of money you earn.
